Mayor
Commits more than $150,000 for Aurora
Aurora
is getting the attention it needs! The Mayor met with
the Aurora Avenue Task Force on April 23rd
and
received 40 recommendations for improvements between
72nd
and
90th
Streets.
He made the following commitments for the upcoming
budget:
1.
Install
an overhead lighted crosswalk at Stone Ave & N 80th St
(adjacent to Bagley Elementary)
2.
Repair
sidewalks that are currently in need of
repair
3.
Install
a red-light camera at Aurora & N 85th
Street
4.
Put in
left-turn signals at Aurora & N 90th
Street
5.
Install
pedestrian countdown crossing signals
6.
Repair
and update existing street signs and update street striping
(lane striping completed yesterday!)
7.
Put up
signs for bicyclists along bike routes in the
neighborhood
8.
Remove
the "Prostitution and Drugs Watch Area" signs on
Aurora
9.
Consider
relocating the Seattle Police Department's North Precinct
to Aurora Ave area
10.
Hire
40-60 more officers for the North
Precinct
11.
Install
new streetlights on Aurora between N 72nd & N 75th
Streets
12.
Work
with the City Council to apply the Homes Within Reach
program on the Aurora corridor
13.
Hire
consultants to work with the Task Force on both a Land Use
Visioning Process and an Urban Design
Study
14.
Commit
staff support to the Task Force steering committee for at
least 2 years
