Say “NO” to Aurora Jail –
July 12
Please attend
the city’s official meeting so you can voice
your opinion about a possible jail on Aurora. The meeting
will be held Saturday, July 12, 9:00am-12:00pm
at North
Seattle Community College, 9600 College Way N, in the
Wellness Center (gym) located on the I-5 side of the
college,
just south of the NE parking lot (free on weekends).
Numbers count in opposing this jail. Already many of you
have sent in your letters. Thanks! Haller Lake Community
Club is actively opposing the jail. See Seattle P.I. article
about Haller Lake meeting. More than 250 people attended
their planning meeting.
If you haven’t done so already, please write Mayor Greg
Nickels and City Councilmember Tim Burgess. Here is a
Sample
Letter. You may submit your letter online in
the Jail
Comment Form and/or send a letter to Mayor Greg
Nickels,
Seattle City Hall, PO Box 94749, Seattle, WA 98124. Please
also email your letter to City Councilmember Tim Burgess,
tim.burgess@seattle.gov. The city has created a
Jail
Information Website to answer many of the questions about
the jail.
