Neighborhood Clean Up Events
We are utilizing the City’s
Adopt-a-Street
program to help with cleaning up the trash within our
neighborhood. GAIN has adopted the area from 75th to 95th
on Aurora, in addition we also clean from Aurora to
Greenwood. Check out our
signs
on Aurora Ave!
Every other month on the first Saturday of the month we
pick up trash in one of the four quadrants of our
neighborhood with equipment provided to us by the city. The
Adopt-a-Street program is providing safety vests, gloves,
garbage bags, litter “grabbers” and pruning shears. They
also take care of the removal of garbage.
Why do we do this? Simply because we believe in the "broken
window" theory. It really works! Read more about
that
here
It only takes a couple hours once a month to make a big
difference!
Please
join us in our efforts to help clean up our
neighborhood.

Since
December 2005 GAIN and its partnering organizations
have collected more than 500 bags of garbage
and neighbors have contributed 1,200 volunteer hours
to cleaning up the neighborhood.
The police department has reported
DRAMATICALLY reduced
crime in our corridor for 2007 and continuing on into 2008,
and they give great credit to GAIN for their work to
enhance community and cleanup the neighborhood.
Please help us to continue this trend!
